MLS Round 24: Minnesota United – Blue & White Navy Away Viewing on Bowen Island

Away Game Day Info

Sautrday, July 27th, Kickoff 5:00pm

Let’s get the bad news out of the way first. The Whitecaps have sunk about as low as they’ve ever been as a franchise in MLS. The executives of the club seem perfectly happy rearranging deck chairs as the ship crashes into a clearly visible iceberg, patting themselves on the back about how much more valuable their ship is now that the market for ships is so hot. The Whitecaps brass have pinched each penny they’ve received from the sale of Davies while letting transfers that might reverse the team’s course slip through their fingers. Marc Dos Santos seems baffled as to how he can motivate the players that are here and the players themselves are performing worse than the start of the season. Rather than settling into a system, there seems to be more confusion and less cohesion as the weeks go by.

There’s a lot of blame to go around for where the franchise finds itself and no belief that the current executives can find a path forward. Ownership seems content that their investment is appreciating in value as MLS franchise fees go up while telling us to “hang tough” and “follow the process.”

So why show up and support the players on the field? Because being in a supporters group is about more than cheering for results. We are a community of people who love soccer and want our city to be represented by a team we can all be proud of. If you have any ideas as to how we can push our club to be better, come on out to Bowen Island this Saturday and hash it out. Or vent. Or just enjoy the good company of people suffering through the dark times in Whitecapsland with you.

The game is a 5pm and we have space reserved for us at Doc Morgan’s, just a short stroll from the ferry dock in Snug Cove on Bowen Island. Check the ferry schedule here:
