On Saturday July 22 we welcome the Timbers Army for a solid weekend of football, beery good times and a kickass fundraising event in support of hardworking organizations that are helping refugees settle in our two beautiful countries.
First off, the Southsiders will take on the Timbers Army in a 4:00 pm kickabout at Andy Livingstone Park – East (at Keefer and Columbia). This event is open to all-comers, so please bring $10 to cover the cost of field rental and insurance. The Southsiders are leading 4-2 on aggregate, by the way, so come out and cheer us on even if you’re not quite “match fit.”
After we have finished comparing our turf burns, be sure to join us at Doolin’s for The Equality Benefit Concert, presented by the Vancouver Southsiders and Timbers Army.
The TA and Southsiders pride themselves on being inclusive, accepting and respectful to all. We stand for equality, and against racism, bigotry, and hate. We have always strived to be the place where everyone feels welcome. We are the place where everyone belongs. On Saturday July 22nd, our two groups will stand and sing together as one saying unequivocally that ALL ARE WELCOME.
Proceeds from this benefit will be split between the Vancity Humanitarian Fund here at home, and the Immigrant and Refugee Community Organization in Portland.
Festivities kick off at Doolin’s beginning at 7:00 pm. Live music will begin at 8:00 pm. There will be a 50:50 cash prize as well as other ways to donate at this event. Keep your eyes open for updates!
